California Wildfire Resources & Relief
Wildfires and winds continue to devastate the homes and health of Southern Californians. As of today, more than 40,000 acres have burned, 12,000+ structures have been destroyed, 200,000 people have been displaced, many have lost their lives and many more are still missing. A state of emergency has been declared, enabling survivors to access state and federal resources for recovery, while extraordinary efforts are still focused on fighting the fires and protecting people and properties.
Your connected dental community is working together at the local, state and national levels to provide support. Here are a few of the steps CDA, CDA Foundation and The Dentists Insurance Company are taking and resources available:
- TDIC's experts offer guidance navigating insurance concerns, even if you're not a current policyholder. Call 877.269.8844 to speak to a risk management analyst. If you're a policyholder who has been impacted by the fires, file a claim by phone or online.
- CDA and TDIC have developed and curated resources specific to wildfire response, recovery and prevention, including guidance on navigating emergencies and practice interruption. We’ll continue to share resources in the days and weeks to come.
- The CDA Foundation's Wellness Program is a no-cost, confidential source of support for dental professionals who are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression related to these events or other challenges. You have a support system and peers who are ready to help.
- We’re continuing to monitor the situation and adjust deadlines, local events and ways to support to be as helpful and respectful of your safety as possible. The UCLA faculty mixer with ADA, CDA and WLDS has been cancelled, and the Now + Next Meetup in San Marino has been postponed until further notice. We’ve extended the deadline to apply for leadership committees and task forces to allow those who are affected more time.
- If you are experiencing financial hardship due to the wildfires and have not yet renewed your membership, please reach out to CDA or your local dental society. We may be able to offer options that allow you to preserve your membership, as well as resources to support you and your practice.
